Top Tips for Future Brides
1. Make sure the band gets folks on the dance floor BEFORE the bride and groom are even introduced. Make sure they know how to keep folks dancing all night long. 2. Do not let bridal dress assistants push you around and sell you, or tell you that ‘you make the gown, the gown doesn’t make you’ – nobody understood what I wanted, and it took a dozen shops to finally find the perfect nude Elie Saab – sublime! The industry is pushy. 3. Make sure your photographer is on the same page as the bride and that he or she does exceptional work – your photographer should tail you mostly all night, it is also important that you hire their assistant as well. They have a lot of juggling, and the assistant can help capture other ‘non-bride’ moments. 4. Do several runs on hair and makeup if you have to; make the salons do you up exactly as if they would the day of your wedding. 5. Practice bustling your gown before the wedding day; believe it or not, this can ruin an evening!

Personal Touches:
We were married at the cathedral of the Holy Cross. My very favorite parish priest was able to perform the ceremony for us.

The Best Thing about the day:
My gown and bouquet were outstanding; unconventional in color, and very striking. Folks were wowed, but it was all still within the confines of a ‘wedding look’ even though I wanted red carpet… I was actually able to pull off a combination of the looks.

What went wrong?
My bustle was a mess, and my GF’s escorted me into the bathroom to fix me…it was all quite fun and funny – my special moment with my best friends, but it would have been great if my bustle were figured out ahead of time – it was a complicated bustle.
